Amber contacted me earlier this summer about photographing her baby’s birth. I had been looking forward to this day since she contacted me!
We did their maternity pictures back in August. That was the first time I had met her boyfriend, Curtis. I joked with him and told him that he and I would be best buds by the end of this because we would probably be spending lots of hours together at the hospital. But when baby Batchelor decided to make his appearance, he wasn’t taking his time. He was ready to come out and meet his family.
Amber texted me on the evening of October 3rd. She said “Hey, I’m at Nash and I’m 6cm.” Mind you, she was due to deliver at UNC! I was completely taken off guard. Luckily my husband was at home so I didn’t have to worry about dropping my son off anywhere. I got my equipment together and I hit the road! I was by Amber’s side within an hour of her first contacting me. She was about 8cm when I arrived so it wasn’t long before sweet Dalton was born.
I have never seen a birth happen so quickly in my life. It was only 6 MINUTES from first push to baby! I couldn’t believe it. Amber birthed Dalton so beautifully. The love and connection between she and Curtis was something that was so inspiring to watch. Along with his mommy and daddy, Dalton entered this world with both of his grandma’s in the room. I feel so blessed to have gotten the opportunity to witness the love that was in the room that day.
Enjoy a few of my favorites from his birth!
